This Banana Pudding Parfait combines layers of creamy banana-flavored pudding, smooth cream cheese mixture, fresh banana slices, and crunchy vanilla wafer cookies for a deliciously refreshing dessert perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Pudding Mixture

  • 2 cups chilled milk
  • 1 (3.4-ounce) box Jello instant banana cream pudding or instant French vanilla pudding

For the Cream Cheese Mixture

  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk

Other Ingredients

  • 12 ounces frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • About 60 Nilla vanilla wafer cookies (or as required)
  • 45 bananas, sliced (or as required)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pudding: In a mixing bowl, combine the chilled milk and instant pudding mix. Use a handheld electric mixer to beat the mixture until it thickens, indicating the pudding is set.
  2. Mix cream cheese and condensed milk: In a separate bowl, blend the softened cream cheese with the sweetened condensed milk until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
  3. Combine mixtures: Gradually add the cream cheese and condensed milk mixture to the prepared pudding. Stir gently but thoroughly to create a uniform blend.
  4. Fold in whipped topping: Carefully fold the thawed whipped topping into the pudding and cream cheese mixture in two additions, ensuring the mixture remains light and fluffy. Transfer this mixture into a piping bag or keep ready for spooning.
  5. Assemble parfaits: In individual serving glasses, start by layering 2-3 vanilla wafer cookies at the bottom followed by 3-4 slices of banana. Pipe or spoon a generous layer of the pudding mixture over the bananas and wafers. Repeat the layering process until the glass is filled to the rim.
  6. Chill and serve: Refrigerate the assembled parfaits until they are well chilled and set. Serve garnished with a dollop of whipped cream, extra Nilla wafers, and additional banana slices if desired.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm bananas to prevent them from becoming mushy in the parfait.
  • For a lighter version, you can substitute reduced-fat cream cheese and use low-fat or skim milk.
  • If fresh bananas brown quickly, toss the slices with a little lemon juice before layering.
  • Parfaits can be prepared a few hours ahead or the night before; just keep them tightly covered in the refrigerator.
  • To add texture variety, consider sprinkling chopped nuts between layers.
