Slider Base
- 1 (12 count) package Hawaiian sweet rolls, sliced in half
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup cranberry sauce
- 12 deli white turkey meat slices (or shredded leftover turkey meat)
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Buttery Topping
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the sliders.
- Prepare Pan: Line a 9×9-inch pan with aluminum foil and lightly spray it with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Set aside.
- Slice Rolls: Using a long serrated knife, carefully slice the Hawaiian sweet rolls in half horizontally, but do not separate the individual rolls; keep them attached.
- Assemble Base Layer: Place the bottom half of the rolls in the prepared pan. Spread the mayonnaise evenly over the bottom layer, then spread the cranberry sauce on top of the mayo.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the cranberry sauce layer.
- Layer Turkey: Evenly distribute the turkey slices on top of the cheese layer.
- Top Cheese: Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the turkey.
- Add Top Buns: Carefully place the top half of the rolls over the assembled ingredients and press down slightly to compact.
- Prepare Butter Mixture: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter on high for about 1 minute until liquefied.
- Mix Seasoning: Whisk in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper into the melted butter to combine well.
- Brush Butter: Drizzle and brush the garlic butter mixture evenly over the tops of the rolls.
- Sprinkle Poppy Seeds: Sprinkle the poppy seeds over the buttered tops of the slider rolls.
- Bake Covered: Cover the pan loosely with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until the cheese has fully melted.
- Brown Tops: Remove the foil and bake for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until the tops of the sliders are slightly golden brown.
- Rest and Serve: Take the sliders out of the oven and allow them to cool for 5-10 minutes. Slice into individual sliders and serve warm, optionally with gravy for dipping.
Notes
- Using leftover turkey or deli slices works well for a quick option.
- Make sure not to separate the rolls during slicing to keep them connected for easy baking.
- You can substitute mozzarella with a different melting cheese like provolone or cheddar if preferred.
- For a lower fat version, use light mayo and reduce butter amount or use a butter substitute.
- Sliders are best enjoyed warm right after baking for melty cheese and soft rolls.
- Adding a side of gravy or cranberry mayo dip complements the flavors beautifully.
