Ingredients

Scale

Dip

  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (not from concentrate)
  • 2.5 cups Cool Whip
  • 14 ounces cherry pie filling

For Serving

  • Graham crackers
  • Sugar cookies (optional)
  • Pretzels (optional)
  • Fruit pieces (optional)
  • Shortcake pieces (optional)

Instructions

  1. Beat the Cream Cheese: In a medium to large mixing bowl, use electric beaters to beat the softened cream cheese until smooth and soft, approximately 30 seconds.
  2. Add Powdered Sugar: Add the powdered sugar to the cream cheese and continue beating until the mixture is fluffy, about 1 minute.
  3. Add Flavorings: Add vanilla extract and lemon juice to the mixture, and beat again for an additional minute until well combined.
  4. Fold in Cool Whip: Gently fold the Cool Whip into the cream cheese mixture using a spatula until the dip is homogenous and creamy. Transfer this combined dip to a serving dish.
  5. Add Cherry Topping: Spoon the cherry pie filling evenly over the top of the cream cheese dip. Optionally, crumble some graham crackers over the top as a garnish.
  6. Serve: Serve the dip immediately or chilled, accompanied by graham crackers, sugar cookies, pretzels, fruit pieces, or shortcake slices for dipping.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easier blending and a smooth dip texture.
  • This dip can be prepared a few hours ahead and refrigerated to enhance flavors.
  • For a lighter version, substitute Cool Whip with light whipped topping.
  • If you prefer a tangier flavor, increase lemon juice slightly to taste.
  • Use cherry pie filling with whole cherries for better texture and presentation.
