Ingredients

Scale

Bread and Spreads

  • 12 slices bread (toasted, crusts removed optional)
  • 16 teaspoons mayonnaise

Meat and Cheese

  • 12 slices chicken (wafer-thin)
  • 8 bacon rashers (cooked till crispy)
  • 4 slices Emmental cheese (or cheese of choice)

Vegetables and Seasonings

  • lettuce (shredded)
  • tomato (thinly sliced)
  • salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Base Slice: Place your first slice of toasted bread on your work surface.
  2. Apply Mayonnaise: Spread about one teaspoon of mayonnaise on the toasted bread slice, adjusting the amount depending on the bread size.
  3. Add Chicken: Arrange wafer-thin slices of chicken on the mayo, fluffing them to add height and visual appeal.
  4. Add Lettuce: Cover the chicken with shredded lettuce, taking care not to overfill to maintain sandwich structure.
  5. Place Cheese: Put a slice of Emmental cheese over the lettuce, trimming if necessary to fit the sandwich.
  6. Prepare Second Bread Slice: Spread mayonnaise on a second slice of toasted bread.
  7. Layer Bread and Cheese: Place the second bread slice mayo-side down on top of the cheese.
  8. Add Mayonnaise on Second Slice: Spread mayonnaise on the top side of this bread slice.
  9. Place Bacon: Lay crispy bacon rashers atop the mayo, trimming or breaking them to fit neatly.
  10. Add Tomato: Place enough thin tomato slices over the bacon to cover the surface fully, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  11. Add Lettuce Again: Arrange another layer of shredded lettuce on top of the tomato slices.
  12. Prepare Third Bread Slice: Spread mayonnaise on the third and final slice of toasted bread.
  13. Complete the Sandwich: Place the final bread slice mayo-side down on the lettuce layer.
  14. Slice and Portion: Cut the sandwich into four equal quarters, pressing down gently to keep layers intact, using a sharp bread knife.
  15. Secure with Toothpicks: Pierce each quarter with a toothpick or cocktail stick to hold the sandwich together.
  16. Serve: Serve fresh with potato chips or fries and pickles on the side for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Toasting the bread adds crunch and helps prevent sogginess.
  • Crust removal is optional based on personal preference.
  • Adjust mayonnaise quantity for desired creaminess.
  • Bacon should be cooked crispy for best texture contrast.
  • Use a sharp bread knife to ensure clean cuts and maintain sandwich layers.
  • Can be served with a variety of side dishes like chips, fries, or pickles to enhance the meal.
