4.4 from 51 reviews

This vibrant Cranberry Jalapeno Jam combines the tartness of cranberries with the spicy kick of jalapenos and a hint of lime for brightness. Perfect for spreading on toast, serving alongside cheese, or adding a flavorful twist to sandwiches and appetizers.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 4 cups frozen cranberries
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup finely minced jalapeno peppers (about 23 small peppers)
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime zest

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar, minced jalapenos, lime juice, and lime zest. Stir the mixture well and let it sit for 5-10 minutes to allow the cranberries to release some liquid.
  2. Heat the Mixture: Place the saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir frequently until the cranberries begin to burst and the sugar has fully dissolved.
  3. Mash the Berries: Use a potato masher or the back of a spoon to press the cranberries until the mixture is smooth and consistent in texture.
  4. Cook to Jam Consistency: Increase heat slightly and cook the jam, stirring every few minutes to prevent sticking, until it reaches 220°F (104°C). This should take approximately 25-30 minutes and ensures the jam sets properly.
  5. Cool and Store: Remove the jam from heat and allow it to cool slightly. Transfer the jam into sterilized jars for storage. Let it cool completely before sealing.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of jalapeno to control the spiciness of the jam.
  • Use frozen cranberries directly; no need to thaw before cooking.
  • Ensure proper jam setting by using a candy thermometer to reach 220°F.
  • Store jam in sterilized airtight jars and refrigerate after opening.
  • Jam can be refrigerated for up to 3 weeks or frozen for up to 3 months.
