Onions:
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
Seasoning:
- 2 teaspoons fresh thyme, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Sliders:
- 12 sweet rolls
- 10 slices provolone cheese
- 14 ounces sliced deli roast beef
Butter Sauce:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 1/2 tablespoons dried onion soup mix
Au Jus:
- 1 packet au jus gravy mix
- 3 cups water
- Fresh chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
- Caramelize Onions: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 3 tablespoons unsalted butter. Add the thinly sliced onion, cook for 12-15 minutes until softened and browned.
- Seasoning: Stir in minced thyme, kosher salt, and black pepper. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Prepare Sliders: Preheat oven to 350°F. Slice sweet rolls horizontally. Layer bottom half in a baking dish. Top with half of provolone, roast beef, caramelized onions, remaining provolone, and top half of rolls.
- Butter Sauce: Combine melted butter and onion soup mix. Brush over the rolls.
- Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake 5 more minutes to brown.
- Prepare Au Jus: Mix au jus gravy with water according to package instructions.
- Serve: Garnish sliders with parsley and serve with au jus for dipping.
