Phyllo Dough:

  • 16 ounces phyllo dough (thawed according to package instructions)
  • 1 ¼ cups salted butter (melted)

Filling:

  • 1 lb finely chopped walnuts (about 4 cups)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Syrup:

  • ¾ cup water
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Pastry – Thaw phyllo dough and butter baking dish. Chop walnuts and mix with cinnamon.
  2. Syrup – Combine sugar, water, honey, and lemon juice in a saucepan, boil, then cool.
  3. Baklava Assembly – Layer phyllo sheets, buttering between each, and sprinkle walnut mixture in between. Bake and drizzle with cooled syrup.
