  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Sauce:

  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (10 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup sour cream

Additional Ingredients:

  • 2 cups pasta (elbow macaroni or rotini), cooked and drained
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  2. Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with diced onion until browned. Drain excess grease, then season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Make the Sauce: Add tomato sauce, cream of mushroom soup, and sour cream to the skillet. Stir until combined and heated through.
  4. Assemble the Casserole: Spread half the pasta in the dish. Layer half the beef mixture and cheddar cheese. Repeat layers with remaining pasta, beef mixture, and cheddar cheese.
  5. Add Mozzarella: Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the top layer.
  6. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 10 more minutes until cheese is melted.
  7. Serve: Garnish with parsley if desired and serve warm.
