Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 1 pre-made pie crust (9-inch)

Filling

  • 8 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Swiss)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg

Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pie Crust: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the pre-made pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges neatly. Bake the crust for 10 minutes to pre-bake and slightly set it, then remove from oven and set aside.
  2. Cook Bacon: Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the chopped bacon. Cook until the bacon is crispy, then drain the bacon pieces on a paper towel and reserve some of the bacon grease in the skillet for added flavor.
  3. Sauté Spinach: Using the same skillet with the reserved bacon grease, add the chopped fresh spinach. Sauté the spinach for about 2-3 minutes until it becomes wilted but still vibrant. Remove from heat.
  4. Prepare Egg Mixture: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the 4 large eggs, 1 cup heavy cream, ½ teaspoon salt, ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper, and ¼ teaspoon nutmeg until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  5. Assemble Quiche: Spread the cooked bacon evenly over the pre-baked pie crust, followed by the sautéed spinach. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the bacon and spinach. Carefully pour the egg and cream mixture evenly over the filling to cover all ingredients.
  6. Bake Quiche: Place the assembled quiche in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until the custard is set and the top is golden brown.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove the quiche from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature for best flavor.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half or whole milk for heavy cream, though this may affect the custard texture.
  • You can use a homemade pie crust if preferred instead of pre-made.
  • Cheddar will give a sharper taste while Swiss cheese adds a nuttier, milder flavor.
  • Bacon grease adds flavor but can be drained to reduce fat content.
  • Nutmeg is optional but adds a warm depth to the egg mixture.
  • The quiche can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently before serving.
