Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup (150g) fresh spinach, chopped
  • ½ cup (100g) feta cheese, crumbled
  • ¼ cup (60g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Optional Add-ins:

  • Sun-dried tomatoes
  • Olives
  • Fresh herbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for baking.
  2. Cook Spinach: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat and sauté the chopped spinach until it wilts. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
  3. Prepare Filling: In a bowl, combine the cooked spinach with crumbled feta cheese, softened cream cheese, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until you get a uniform filling.
  4. Roll Dough: Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a clean surface and evenly spread the prepared spinach and cheese filling over it.
  5. Shape Pinwheels: Carefully roll the puff pastry sheet tightly into a log shape. Slice this log into even rounds to form individual pinwheels.
  6. Bake: Place the pinwheel slices on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced evenly to allow proper rising and crisping. Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  7. Serve: Let the pinwheels cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature as a delightful appetizer or snack.

Notes

  • Keep pastry cold to maintain its flaky texture during preparation.
  • Do not overfill the pinwheels to prevent them from opening while baking.
  • Space pinwheels evenly on the baking sheet to ensure they bake properly and become crisp.
  • Prepare pinwheels ahead of time and refrigerate before baking to save time.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven to maintain crispness.
