Ingredients

Scale

For the Pizza Crust:

  • 1 pre-made pizza crust (store-bought or homemade)

For the Sausage Gravy:

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage (bulk or casings removed)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

For the Toppings:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh parsley or chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Sausage Gravy: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and cooked through, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir to combine, cooking for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper if using. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Pizza: Preheat your oven according to the pizza crust instructions, usually around 425°F (220°C). Place the pre-made pizza crust on a baking sheet or pizza stone. Spread a generous layer of sausage gravy evenly over the crust. Sprinkle shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese evenly over the gravy.
  3. Bake the Pizza: Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
  4. Add Eggs: While the pizza bakes, crack the eggs into a bowl and season with salt and pepper. Remove the pizza from the oven and carefully crack the eggs on top of the cheese. Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the egg whites are set but the yolks remain slightly runny or cooked to your preference.
  5. Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Garnish with chopped parsley or chives. Slice and serve warm for a delicious breakfast pizza experience.

Notes

  • Use a pizza stone for a crispier crust if desired.
  • Adjust cayenne pepper amount to increase or reduce heat in the sausage gravy.
  • You can swap out cheddar or mozzarella for other cheeses according to taste.
  • Ensure eggs are cooked to your liking; bake longer for firmer yolks.
  • Leftover pizza can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
