A classic Waldorf Salad recipe that combines the crispness of apples, the sweetness of grapes, the crunch of celery, and the nuttiness of walnuts, all tossed in a creamy dressing. Perfect for a light and refreshing side dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Apples:

  • 23 medium crisp apples (I use a Granny Smith and Honeycrisp)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (to prevent browning of apples)

Additional Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cup red seedless grapes, halved
  • 1 cup celery, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup toasted walnuts or pecans, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt for a lighter version)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lettuce leaves (traditionally iceberg, but any type works)

Instructions

  1. Peel and dice the apples: Toss the apples and lemon juice in a large bowl.
  2. Add the grapes, celery, and nuts: If desired, add raisins at this point.
  3. Mix the dressing: In a separate bowl, combine mayonnaise, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  4. Combine everything: Pour the dressing over the apple mixture and gently stir to coat.
  5. Chill: Refrigerate the salad for 30-60 minutes to let the flavors meld.
  6. Serve: Enjoy the Waldorf salad on a bed of lettuce leaves.
