Ingredients

Scale

Milk Tea Base

  • 2 cups of milk (dairy or plant-based such as almond, oat, or soy for vegan option)
  • 1 tablespoon loose black tea or 2 black tea bags
  • 1 cinnamon stick or ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Flavorings & Sweeteners

  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon honey (or preferred sweetener such as agave syrup or maple syrup)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the Milk: Pour 2 cups of milk into a saucepan and heat over medium heat until the milk starts steaming. Avoid boiling to prevent scorching or skin formation, ensuring a creamy texture for your milk tea.
  2. Infuse the Tea and Cinnamon: Add 1 tablespoon of loose black tea or 2 tea bags along with the cinnamon stick or ground cinnamon to the steaming milk. Stir gently and let the mixture simmer for 3-5 minutes, depending on your preferred tea strength, stirring occasionally to avoid sticking.
  3. Strain and Remove the Tea: Remove the saucepan from heat and strain out the tea leaves and cinnamon stick using a fine mesh strainer, or remove the tea bags, leaving a smooth, fragrant milk base.
  4. Add Vanilla and Sweetener: Stir in 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract and 1 tablespoon of honey or your chosen sweetener. Optionally, add ¼ teaspoon of ground nutmeg for subtle warmth and spice.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Pour the infused vanilla cinnamon milk tea into mugs. Garnish with a light dusting of ground cinnamon if desired. Serve warm and enjoy the comforting flavors.

Notes

  • Use fresh cinnamon sticks and high-quality vanilla extract for best flavor.
  • Adjust sweetness to taste by varying the honey or using alternatives like maple syrup or stevia.
  • For vegan versions, choose plant-based milks such as almond, oat, soy, or coconut milk.
  • Feel free to add other spices like cardamom, star anise, or ginger to customize the flavor profile.
  • Steeping time affects tea strength; increase steep time for a stronger tea or reduce for lighter flavor.
  • Avoid boiling milk to maintain smooth texture and prevent flavor changes.
